Our plant collection began in 1976 when we acquired the
last plants propagated by Henry J. Hohman of Kingsville Nursery.
Kingsville Nursery was world
famous for growing unusual conifers, broadleafs and deciduous plants.
Foxborough Nursery, Inc. is a wholesale
nursery that has
grown steadily since 1978, and is well known in the horticultural
industry for specializing in rare and unusual
plants. At present, we show an inventory
of over one million plants, utilizing 200+ acres of farmland.
The propagation and production area
consists of approximately 80,000 square feet
where we produce over 40,000 grafts and 500,000 cuttings per
year.
Through our propagation and production methods, we
strive to grow top quality, true-to-name plant material.
Foxborough Nursery, Inc. is proud to be a member of:
- Maryland Nursery and Landscape Association
- Pennsylvania Nursery and Landscape
Association
- American Nursery and Landscape Association
- International Plant Propagators' Society,
Inc.
- American Conifer Society

David Thompson and his wife Marilyn founded
Foxborough Nursery, Inc. in the spring of 1978. His family's avid
vegetable and flower gardening inspired David's horticultural interest.
Graduating from the University of Maryland in Ornamental Horticulture in
1975, David was very interested in rare and unusual conifers. In
developing Foxborough Nursery, he concentrated on two areas of the green
industry, landscape design/build and wholesale nursery production of
rare and unusual plants.
David has been a member of the Maryland Nursery
and Landscape Association since 1978, during which time he
has served on many committees as well as a board member, treasurer, vice
president and finally as its president in 1988 and 1989. In 1998 he was
honored by the MNLA as the recipient of the Professional Achievement
Award. He served on the Mid-Atlantic Nursery Trade Show (MANTS) board
for several years and was its president in 1991. In the spring of 1994,
David was honored by the University of Maryland College of Agriculture
Alumni Association when he was presented the Meritorious Service of
Agriculture award. As a member of the University of Maryland
Horticulture Advisory Board, David strives to promote horticulture and
horticulture education in Maryland. One of David’s favorite ways to
share horticulture has been the 4-H Green Thumb Club he started in 1993
to get young people involved in horticulture projects to benefit the
community. He has been a member of the International Plant Propagator’s
Society since 1976. David is a founding member of the American Conifer
Society and has served as president of the Eastern Region of the ACS. He
also maintains membership in the American Nursery and Landscape
Association .
David's enthusiasm has been passed to the next
generation. David and Marilyn’s sons, Brad and Andrew, are the partners
in Brothers' Berries, a cut branch business. Brad is a graduate of the
University of Delaware with a degree in Landscape Horticulture. Brad is
the Production Manager for Foxborough Nursery, Inc. Andrew
is a graduate of Penn State University with a degree in Landscape
Contracting. Andrew does Landscape Design and Sales for Foxborough, Inc.
